ST. JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda – 5th December 2024……Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne on Thursday is presenting his government’s 2025 Budget Statement outlining that Antigua and Barbuda is poised for greater accomplishments in the coming year.
The Prime Minister’s Budget tagged “Creating a Resilient, Harmonios, and Prosperous Nation,” highlights the country’s remarkable growth rate over the years and predicts that the nation will achieve remarkable real GDP growth of at least 6 per cent in 2024, surpassing the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) global growth projection of 3.2 per cent.
Prime Minister Browne says that this performance outstrips major economies such as the United States, the Euro area, and the United Kingdom.
“Over the past three years, from 2021 to 2023, we have maintained an impressive average annual growth rate of 7.4 per cent. In our region, only Guyana, with its burgeoning oil and gas sector, has exceeded our growth rate. This achievement is a testament to the effective management of our economy and the resilience of our people,” he said.
The IMF projected robust economic performance for Antigua and Barbuda, anticipating real GDP growth of 5.8 per cent in 2024 and 3.5 per cent in 2025.
“We have surpassed the 2024 projection and are confident that, with the continued support and contribution of every working person in our country, we will exceed the 3.5 per cent growth forecast for 2025.These figures are not mere statistics; they reflect the unwavering spirit of our people and the soundness of our economic strategies and policies,” Prime Minister Browne pointed out.
The Prime Minister stated that the country is poised for even greater accomplishments in 2025.
