RIYADH, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – 17th November 2023……Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne on Thursday commenced a series of bilateral meetings with Saudi Arabia government officials and companies to address several issues being faced by the government and people of Antigua and Barbuda. The first meeting was held with the Saudi Arabian company ACWA Power, as he seeks fresh remedies to Antigua and Barbuda’s chronic water production and distribution problems.
The country’s leader discussed funding for the construction of a reverse osmosis plant and a re-piping programme for Antigua and Barbuda.
Since coming into office in 2014, the Gaston Browne administration has spent over $200 million dollars on the construction of reverse osmosis plants and a re-piping programme to improve on the decades old water problem in the country.
Prime Minister Browne is also expected to hold additional bilateral meetings on the construction of additional storage of petroleum with the Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Company and infrastructural development with the Saudi Investment Fund. Prime Minister Browne also pointed out that his government hopes to capitalize on the 1Billion dollar investment fund proposed by Saudi Arabia for the possible construction of a hotel at Willoughby Bay.
Prime Minister Browne and the Antigua and Barbuda delegation will continue their bilateral engagements on Friday to include discussions with Prime Minister and Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman.
