T. JOHN’S, Antigua (Nov 1 2025) — In his 44th Independence Day address to the nation, Prime Minister Gaston A. Browne underscored the twin pillars of resilience and shared prosperity that have guided Antigua and Barbuda since 1981.

“We have turned adversity into achievement,” said PM Browne. “Forty-four years of freedom have proven that when Antiguans and Barbudans work together, we can turn resilience into prosperity.”

He cited recent economic milestones alongside expanded investment in social sectors, and pointed to the country’s increasing recognition on the global stage. Noting that “our per-capita income now exceeds US $60,000”.

Prime Minister Browne also invoked the national duty of citizenship: “Independence is not just a right we won — it is a duty we must uphold.”

The Prime Minister concluded his remarks with a call for unity, discipline and shared purpose as the nation moves into its next chapter.
