ST. JOHN, Antigua and Barbuda –  December 31, 2025

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda is pleased to announce that the second installment of $2 million on the LIAT Employees Compassionate Payment Bond has been transferred to BDO Eastern Caribbean for distribution to eligible former LIAT employees. This payment continues the Government’s commitment to providing relief to former LIAT workers who were stationed in Antigua and are entitled to severance benefits.

The Bond, issued by the Government in December 2024, is a 10-year instrument valued at $16.72 million with an annual interest rate of 2%. This bond addresses Antigua and Barbuda’s 32% share of the severance owed to 405 former LIAT (1974) Ltd. employees, reflecting the nation’s ownership share in the regional airline.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne said that this second payment underscores the Government’s dedication to honoring its obligations and supporting those affected by the airline’s closure through payment of the severance owned to the eligible workers.

Former LIAT 1974 Ltd. employees are reminded to contact BDO Eastern Caribbean, the appointed escrow agent, to receive their payment. BDO continues to manage and distribute the bond payments to ensure a smooth and equitable process for all eligible recipients.
